Linux Vs UNIX:
Linux is an open-source operating system developed by the Linus Torvalds in 1991. Here the name Linux comes from Linux Kernel; this software enables the application and helps the user to access the device on the computer. Linux OS can be install on different devices like computers, mobile phones, video games, etc.
In the 1960s, AT&Bell labs introduced an operating system called Unix OS, which has written in C program. Unix OS was started with a one-man project and became the most widely used operating system. This operating system works on the command line interface, and it is popularly used in top companies OS.
Before differentiating between the Linux and UNIX, we went through some basic definition of these operating systems. In today world Linux is in great demand, where you can see Linux everywhere in electrical and electronic devices. We all know Linux is the clone of UNIX but still with some differences.
Difference between UNIX and Linux:

Linux Unix
Linux is an open-source operating system with its, multi-tasking nature developed by the Linux community. Unix is not an open-source operating system and introduced by AT&Bell.
Linux can be used freely without any cost and can download through magazines, websites and books. Unix OS, having different pricing depending on different types of vendors.
This OS used in large applications like desktops, Smartphone’s, and servers As Unix is the costlier, it used in large workstations and PCs.
Linux works on GUI where it provides two GUIs that is KDE and Gnome. Earlier Unix worked on command line Interface, nowadays most of the Unix distributed with Gnome.
The default shell for Linux is BASH. Unix default shell is Bourne
Linux source code is available for everyone. Unix has a confidential source code
Linux is portable. Unix is importable.
There are different version of Linux, which are available in OpenSuse, Redhat, etc. HP-UX, BSD and AIS are the versions of the Unix operating system.
